Re: Limits in Instapaper Free 1.4

instapaper:

New limits in 1.4 Free:

  • Screen rotation has been removed.

Is that supposed to be a limitation or a feature? One of the major reasons behind my upgrading to Instapaper Pro was its ability to disable screen rotation, which was incredibly annoying for me on Instapaper Free.

The primary reason why screen rotation is annoying in Instapaper is that the font size blows up when you do so. If Instapaper can show a hundred words of an article in vertical orientation, it can only do forty when viewed in landscape—which is quite the opposite of what should happen.

Therefore, I would like to request that the landscape mode be fixed in Instapaper Pro 1.4. When the app goes from vertical to horizontal orientation, the font size should stay the same. That will make landscape mode far more useful (I have it turned off right now) and perhaps make Instapaper Free users feel that they are missing something by not upgrading to the Pro version.

Oh, and by the way, if you like reading blogs and other articles published online and have an iPhone, Instapaper Pro [iTunes link] is a must-have application for you. I started out with Instapaper Free [iTunes link], which is a great application in and of itself, and later upgraded to the Pro version (yes, it costs $9.99 but is worth the price) and have never regretted buying this application. Now with background downloading in v1.4, it can only get better.
