At the risk of mentioning it a little too much, I’ll just have you know that I now am the proud owner of the awesome 30-inch display you see above. It got delivered only today and I’ve just been looking and marveling at it ever since I unpackaged and installed it on my desktop.
I bought it from Dinesh Malhotra, a guy from Mumbai who specialises in buying and selling Dell products to customers all over the country, and he sent it to me via Blue Dart. It was I, actually, who’d recommended it to him because Apple had used Blue Dart to ship me my replacement MacBook Pro as well, so I knew I could rely on them.
He had it packaged in a wooden crate, to make sure it would survive the lengthy journey from Mumbai to Noida. Upon receiving it, I sought the help of a Bhutanese hostel-mate, who ripped the wooden planks apart with his bare hands. We lifted the display out of its now ineffective prison cell and hauled it onto my barely large enough tabletop.
There is a problem though: I can’t actually put it to use just yet. I need a Mini DisplayPort to either DisplayPort or HDMI cable in order to hook it up to my MacBook. I’ve already ordered it off Circuit Assembly and it will be arriving in a few days as well. Till then, all I can do it admire its vast canvas of matte-screened beauty and dream of actually surfing the Internet and watching 1080p high definition movies on this monster of a display.
Ah, just the thought of it is sending tingles of excitement down my spine!
I know I need to get out more. And maybe get a life.
