On creationism versus evolution
The debate between evolution and intelligent design is as old as civilisation itself, or at least as old as the birth of the theory of evolution. There are two kinds of people in this world: the believers, who have faith in the existence of a superhuman being, called God, that gave birth to life on Earth and is omnipotent and omnipresent; and the atheists, the disciples of science who claim that...

Preview: Instapaper on iPad →
I’m probably supposed to keep this secret and build everyone’s anticipation to hype this up. Oh well. Maybe I’ll do that for the Instapaper edition for Apple’s next revolutionary computing platform.
First: Instapaper is definitely coming to iPad.
Second: Instapaper is coming to iPad very soon. Possibly even on day one — yes, I’m going for it — but that’s optimistic.
After having seen all the...

Going overboard with spam protection
I recently did an iPod extraction tool roundup for Macworld where I compared “10 utilities for extracting files from your iPod”. And then, as I occasionally do, I received an e-mail from a reader asking me whether there was an easy way to transfer files from her iPod mini to her new iPod touch. “Why, yes,” I replied, and told her that all she had to do was use any of those applications I’d...

Website Discovery: 750 Words
Now this seems like a fun, helpful exercise. I’ve been struggling with a writer’s block over the past couple of months—though to be quite honest, it’s more of a laziness block than anything else—and hopefully this will help me get over it.
That’s the first paragraph of my first entry on 750 Words, a website that encourages you to jot down about three pages of text onto it every day. As the...

Prediction: Apple to release two tablets, and... →
I just ran into this article from Jim Dalrymple (via Daring Fireball). These were his set of predictions for the Apple tablet event and would you look at how uncannily accurate they turned out to be! It’s almost as if he knew beforehand what was gonna happen. I bet it was a disappointing keynote for this guy.

Apple locks the iPad’s screen in place
Look what I found! Ever since Apple introduced the iPad, I’d been hoping they would build in a universal setting somewhere they would allow us to lock the screen in portrait mode. If you own an iPhone or iPod touch, you know how desperately this feature is needed on these devices. Thankfully, Apple has decided to do something about it on the iPad, which now has a physical screen orientation lock...

What’s keeping me away…
I’m in my hometown, Siliguri, till March 10th and the Internet connectivity here is really spotty. Therefore, I’ll be away from Penned Thoughts till that time. Thank you for your patience.
